Back at the lodge, one steps back in time, into the classical ambience of an original 1920s homestead. &BEYOND Kirkman’s Kamp has spectacular views of the unspoiled landscape that surrounds the Sand River from each of its 12 guest cottages. Here, old meets new; with antique-styled beds seamlessly blending with modern comforts, while private verandas creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

A library offers a sanctuary filled with interesting reads, while the classical sitting room provides the ultimate setting to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. Immersed in the bushscape is a rim-flow swimming pool with views of the Sand River. Guests enjoy tea on the rolling lawn, while breakfast and lunch are served on the shady and picturesque verandas. Dinner is a magnificent affair, where mouth-watering Pan-African menus can be enjoyed in a boma, on the lawns, or in a candlelit bush setting.

Choose from a variety of exciting activities such as twice-daily game drives, interpretive bush and nature walks, private, family, birding or photographic safaris, or even a game of croquet or tennis (complete with Pimms and strawberries). Located high on a ridge of the world-famous Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, overlooking the magnificent Sand River, lies Kirkman's Kamp, a lodge with a rich history and a safari experience like no other in the world.

Sharing an unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest and most well-known game reserve in the world, the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve benefits from a great diversity of wildlife. The reserve is, however, world-renowned for its prolific leopard sightings that are just unmatched to anywhere else in the world. Guests staying at Kirkman’s Kamp have the privilege of traversing 10,500 hectares (26,000 acres) of exclusive-use land that is home to, not only the Big Five but other rare and iconic species. Safaris are led by expert &BEYOND-trained ranger and tracker teams, that ensure sensitive off-roading practices and vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of an up-close game viewing experience.

● All rates are inclusive of VAT and in South African Rand.
● Park and Conservancy Fees are subject to change.
● Self drives: Fees need to be prepaid to &Beyond and cannot be paid on arrival
● **** Settle direct: Fees are paid on arrival at the gate and/or at the applicable lodge
● Long-Stay Rates: May be applied for a combination of &Beyond lodges in Africa (subject
to seasonal availability of the offer), for the same guests on a single itinerary. Nights
spent at lodges without applicable long-stay rates count towards the long-stay rate at
lodges where they are applicable. These cannot be used in conjunction with any other
&Beyond offers, including Signature offers.
● Single Supplement A single supplement of 50% applies to all single rooms per booking.
● Triple rooms are suitable for a maximum of two adults sharing with one child 16 years or
younger.
● Pilots and Local Driver-Guides: Rate only includes accommodation, meals, teas and
coffees. Accommodation in a pilot/guide room is on a twin basis; single rooms will be
allocated depending on availability.
● Tour Leaders, Private Guides: Normal guest inclusions and exclusions apply. A
maximum of 1 Tourleader on a discounted rate per 14 guests.
● Private Vehicles: Private 4x4 safari vehicles can be pre-booked, subject to availability.
Rates are per vehicle per night, from 2pm on day of arrival to 11am on day of departure.
Please see applicable notes under our Child Policy for children joining on a private
vehicle.
● Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Please be advised that the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
(Drones) is not allowed in any of the conservation areas we manage, until such time as
their impact on wildlife and anti-poaching initiatives can be assessed. This rule will apply
throughout Africa, as our partners in various countries and regions have adopted a
similar stance.
● If paying for a Private Vehicle, children of any age may go on game drive, with access to
sightings being at the discretion of the guide, based on the behaviour of both child and
animals. Greater distances to animals may be adhered to, or certain sightings may be
avoided, in order to ensure the safety of all.

Bedrooms

The 12 air-conditioned guest cottages on &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp are reminiscent of an old
farmstead, and each faces the glorious Sand River where elephants and other wild animals
roam. The cosy rooms each have an ensuite bathroom with a shower, and a private verandah
with magnificent views. Limited triple-bed room options are available for small families.

Anreise

&BEYOND Kirkman’s Kamp is situated inside the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. The Sabi Sand is part of a conservation area that covers over two million hectares (almost five million acres), in the north-east of South Africa, in the eastern part of the Mpumalanga province.

Getting to Kirkman’s Kamp:

  • Federal Air offers daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Skukuza airport, which is followed by an easy drive to the camp.
  • Connect &BEYOND Kirkman’s Kamp to Johannesburg, Cape Town, &BEYOND Phinda Private Game Reserve, and &BEYOND Ngala Private Game Reserve.
  • It is a five-hour drive from Johannesburg, on very good roads, in a two-wheel-drive vehicle
